An Activities Director oversees the therapeutic and recreational activities for geriatric groups. They may work in a retirement home, nursing home, senior center or healthcare setting.

As an Activity Aide, you will play a vital role in planning, implementing, and evaluating recreational, social, intellectual, emotional, and spiritual programs for our residents. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist in planning, developing, organizing, implementing, and evaluating activity programs and quality assurance programs in the facility for the Activities Department Observe resident attendance, mood, behavior, and degree of involvement to evaluate facility activities and resident progress Develop and maintain a good working rapport with other departments within the facility to ensure seamless daily activities Create and maintain a warm, personal, and positive atmosphere throughout the facility Assist in preparing activity rooms and areas for scheduled programs Recommend equipment and supply needs to supervisors and assist in cleaning up activity areas after completion Follow care plans to provide daily activities for residents and maintain confidentiality of resident care information Oversee residents during scheduled activities to promote physical, social, and mental well-being Assist with in-room residents, including visiting, writing letters, running errands, and performing assistive tasks
Qualifications:
Experience in Long Term Care Activities Department preferred Must have patience, tact, cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm, as well as be willing to handle residents based on their maturity level Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
Physical Demands:
Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday Must be able to cope with mental and emotional stress Must function independently and have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with residents, personnel, and support agencies Must be able to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times, hostile people Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a minimum height of 5 feet and be able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet
