The Director of Activities should be Recreational Therapist or an individual who is already certified by any of the recognized activities accredited bodies such as National Council for Therapeutic Certification (NCTRC), Certified Recreation Specialist (CTRS), National Association of Activities Professional Credentialing Center (NAAPCC) & NCCAP. The Director of Activities must understand and always be in compliance with the Maryland Municipal Regulations for Nursing Home Administration. The Director of Activities shall provide direction and quality guidance for the overall social, therapeutic and recreation needs of our facility residents. Provide overall direction for the activities department by developing and maintaining social programs for the residents. Complete baseline care plan, comprehensive care plan, assessments and Minimum Data Set (MDS). Ensure residents have integrated daily and monthly programs which meets their plan of care. Manage employees under the activities department to including hiring, training and mentoring. Coordinate with the social services department to promote resident's end of life program Resource person for resident and family members. Participates in the quantity improvement process to ensure excellent quality of care for residents. Be survey ready by ensure all activity and recreation nursing home regulations are met. Coordinate the facility's resident council meetings and volunteer program. Completes all tasks as assigned by Administrator or designee. Recreation Certificate required. A minimum of 3 years experience working in social, therapeutic or recreational programs in a healthcare setting. Long Term Care/ Skilled Nursing experience is preferred. Have management or supervisory experience. Must have an understanding on how to complete baseline care plan, comprehensive care plan, assessments and Minimum Data Set (MDS).
