Job Description
Overview Join our vibrant team as an Activities Director, where your passion for enriching the lives of seniors and individuals with disabilities will shine! In this dynamic role, you will design, coordinate, and lead engaging recreational programs that promote socialization, mental stimulation, and overall well-being. This is not your traditional activities position. The ideal candidate will help residents improve brain health through evidence based programming focused on physical activity, cognitive stimulation, nutrition, stress reduction, sleep support, and meaningful social engagement. Every activity is designed with purpose- to support cognitive function, independence, and overall quality of life. Responsibilities Develop and implement diverse activity programs tailored to residents' interests, abilities, and care needs, including memory care and dementia-specific activities. Develop and maintain a monthly ReCODE activity calendar focused on cognitive health and wellness. Plan daily brain-training activities, memory exercises, educational workshops, games, and therapeutic recreation. Lead or coordinate physical exercise programs appropriate for residents, including walking groups, stretching, balance classes, yoga, chair fitness, and outdoor activities. Coordinate educational sessions on nutrition, sleep hygiene, stress management, and healthy lifestyle habits. Maintain detailed records of activity participation, resident preferences, and program outcomes to support individualized care plans. Stay informed on aging issues, Alzheimer's care techniques, and geriatric best practices to continually improve program offerings. Requirements Proven experience in event planning, recreational therapy, or senior care environments such as assisted living or nursing homes. Strong understanding of dementia care, memory support strategies, and Alzheimer's disease management. Background in caregiving or working with individuals with disabilities in long-term or home & community care settings. Excellent communication skills to effectively engage residents, families, and team members. Ability to assist residents with ADLs such as mobility, dressing, and personal hygiene when needed. Skilled in program development with a focus on geriatrics and aging issues counseling. Demonstrated schedule management skills to organize multiple activities efficiently while maintaining flexibility for resident needs.
