Job Description

GENERAL NARATIVE DESCRIPTION
Christian Care Nursing is looking for a dependable, flexible, high-energy person who will be under the direction of the Life Enrichment Director, the Activity Aide will provide group and individual activities. The ideal person will be able to work independently and have passion for serving our elder needs. The activities may be individualized to meet resident specific goals and objectives. The purpose of the position is to assist the Activity Director and Nursing Department, by providing social interaction to maintain the resident's quality of life and to decrease the resident to resident aggression and incidents, to decrease resident falls, and to improve and/or maintain the facility's quality measures.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
1. Upholds the mission statement, values and goals of Christian Care 2. Responsible for knowledge of and compliance, where applicable, with regulatory or credentialing agencies such as state and federal agencies, Medicare and Medicaid, and any other agency 3. Assist with birthday parties for individual residents and/or monthly parties for those with birthdays in that month 4. Assist with holiday parties and other events that help residents celebrate the holidays as they would in their own homes, as holidays are often very difficult for the residents 5. Assist in the arranging for various religious groups and representatives to come into the facility for lead worship and church activities 6. Supervise volunteers who come into the facility to help with activities 7. Follow the personalized activity plan for all new and current residents. Assess each resident and his/her capabilities, skills and interest and report back to the Nursing Department Director(s) and/or Activity Director 8. Participate in and/or lead a wide variety of activities to include such things as, craft classes, cooking clubs, art projects, games, dances, bingo, reading times, exercise classes and parties. Also, may be required to assist the Activity Director on trips to shopping centers, restaurants, parks, concerts, etc. 9. Maintain current skills and knowledge through continuing education and apply information to job responsibilities 10. Compliance with facility policies and procedures for workplace safety, including infection control procedures, application of universal precautions for blood borne pathogens, use of protective equipment, and handling of hazardous materials 11. Act as a role model for facility staff on promotion and respect for the rights, dignity and individuality of each resident in all interactions 12. Protect the rights and dignity of all residents 13. Maintain a clean and safe environment 14. Assist and/or lead assigned group or individualized (one on one) activity programs, which may include feeding snacks or meals 15. Assist residents to and from activity programs 16. Consult nursing department for necessary information regarding resident care information 17. Report any changes in resident behavior, safety hazards or procedural difficulties to the Nursing Department Director(s) and/or Activity Director 18. Assist with an evaluation of each resident according to their background, activity interests, activity preferences, physical and mental abilities and needs for meaningful activity programs 19. Motivate residents in both group and individual activities 20. Maintain an up-to-date attendance chart on each resident and the activities they are attending. Update and turn in weekly reports to the Activity Director 21. Ensures that all employees use resident property with honesty and integrity at all times 22.
