A Recreational Therapist directs and coordinates recreational activities for people with disabilities or illness to help them improve their emotional and physical well-being, improve motor skills and increase confidence. Leads activities involving movement, sports, games, and other activities for brain stimulation. Assists patients with disabilities to learn to use public resources such as parks and public transportation, and integrate in the community. Works with people of all ages, in schools, nursing homes, clinics and other healthcare facilities, or in parks and recreation departments.

Off-Site Activities Coordinator Reports To:
Executive Director Position Summary:
Senior Services of Van Buren County Remote Sites Activity Coordinator is charged with the task of serving with an enthusiastic heart and with a deep love of seniors.
Successful Activities Coordinators will demonstrate:
  • Excellent activities planning and implementation skills.
  • Strong ability to lead and participate in activities program.
  • Strong supervisory skills.
  • Willingness to go above and beyond.
Daily Responsibilities:
  • Travel to local off-site activity centers
  • Manage lunch program
  • Conduct activities
  • Organizes and sets up programs and activities
  • Greets the members and guests
  • Leads recreational activities as needed; receives and documents membership fees.
  • Assists with special programs
  • Prepares and maintains reports of daily activities
  • Register participants
  • Opens and closes the building
  • Maintains computerized databases
Job Type:
Part-time 21- 35 hours per week
Pay:
$16.00 - $17.00 per hour + mileage
