Leads activities involving movement, sports, games, and other activities for brain stimulation. Works with people of all ages, in schools, nursing homes, clinics and other healthcare facilities, or in parks and recreation departments.

Job Description

JOB SUMMARY
To assist outpatient clinical and administrative staff in activities and tasks that support provision of care to outpatients in the therapy gyms and the therapeutic pool.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Cleaning & Organization (40%) Ensures a safe environment for patients and staff by completing general cleaning/sanitizing and organizing of equipment and toys in therapy and patient programming spaces Assists in set-up and clean-up of supplies for therapy or patient programming Assists in ordering and maintenance of departmental equipment, toys, and supplies Routinely sweeps treatment and programming spaces to ensure materials and supplies are in stock and correctly stored Patient Assistance (25%) Obtains equipment and supplies and assists in their use during patient sessions and programs with direct supervision from a therapist Provides hands-on assistance with patients during therapy sessions as directed by a therapist Aquatic Therapy Assistance (20%) Assists in maintaining a safe environment for patients and team members during aquatic therapy sessions by being present during the session and being prepared to activate emergency response when needed When needed, assists with therapy sessions in the pool, providing support to therapists to optimize the therapeutic benefit Coordinates coverage of pool patients to ensure appropriate safety measures are maintained by having one more team member present in the pool, either on deck or in the pool, than patients at all times Check and document chemical levels and temperature of the pool water and perform required daily and monthly cleaning. Monitors logs to track chemical levels and temperature of the pool and notifies manager when concerns arise Administrative (10%) Assist with administrative tasks including fax, file, copy, print Assists in creating, organizing and breaking-down patient soft-charts as directed by the Therapy Manger Assists with checking patients in and out of therapy sessions as needed based on volume for the day Performs reminder calls for upcoming evaluations Assists in maintaining therapist's schedules in Cerner to ensure schedules are up to date Other (5%) All other duties as assigned by the Therapy Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must have a high school diploma or GED Current Basic Life Support (BLS) card from the American Heart Association Organizational skills and previous experience in a pediatric setting preferred
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
These include stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, grasping, pulling, pushing, standing, carrying, and lifting of light loads (up to 35 lb.), as necessary for patient care.
