Job Description
Overview We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Activity Director to lead engaging programs and activities that enrich the lives of our residents. In this vital role, you will create a vibrant community atmosphere by planning, coordinating, and executing diverse recreational and social activities tailored to the interests and needs of seniors. Duties Develop, organize, and oversee a variety of recreational programs, social events, and therapeutic activities designed for residents' physical, emotional, and cognitive well-being identified through initial and ongoing assessments. Coordinate resident events such as outings, celebrations, arts and crafts sessions and music therapy. Build strong rapport with residents through personalized engagement and attentive communication to understand their preferences and needs. Collaborate with nursing staff, caregivers, families, and community partners to ensure activities align with individual care plans and promote inclusivity. Manage scheduling of activities to ensure consistent participation while accommodating residents' health status and mobility levels. Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) as needed during events to foster independence and social interaction. Maintain detailed records of participation, resident feedback, and activity outcomes to continually improve program offerings. Skills Proven experience in event planning within long-term care settings, especially in senior or memory care environments is a must. Strong knowledge of geriatrics, dementia care, Alzheimer's disease, and aging issues counseling. Excellent communication skills for engaging residents with diverse needs and working effectively with families and team members. Demonstrated ability to develop innovative programs tailored for seniors with disabilities or cognitive impairments. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite for scheduling, documentation, and resident communication purposes. Leadership skills to coordinate team efforts while fostering a positive atmosphere among staff and residents. Experience working with geriatric patients in nursing homes or senior living facilities is highly preferred. Ability to manage multiple schedules efficiently while maintaining flexibility for resident needs.
