Job Description

Nature of Work Provide leadership, supervision and organization of the The Pit in the CSC Student Center. Provide supervision of student leadership organization functions.
Examples of Work Performed Essential Duties:
The Pit - CSC Student Center 1. Management a. Supervise the operation of The Pit in the CSC Student Center b. Hire, train, schedule and evaluate student staff for The Pit c. Oversee student staff for The Pit d. Monitor equipment to ensure it is in proper working order for the safety and enjoyment of the users 2. Late Night at The Pit Events a. Host events for the CSC Student Body throughout the academic year b. Provide a fun and safe environment for all participants c. Promote and support a wide variety of events including dances, game nights, crafts, etc. 3. Budget a. Oversee student hourly and general operations budgets
Essential Duties:
Student Activities (Campus Activities Board) Train and supervise students to organize and plan program events for students; negotiate and carry out contracts; assist clubs 1. Campus Activities Board a. Organize and support Campus Activities Board (CAB) along with attending executive and general CAB meetings b. Attend CAB activities, which may include supervising set-ups and tear-downs c. Establish and maintain appropriate record keeping and accounting systems for budgets regarding CAB/CAB Committees/CAB Director and handle related orders, payments and correspondence 2. CAB/Senate Budget Committee a. Assist CAB/Senate Budget Committee in organizing budget requests and allocation process b. Assist the budget committee with procedure, meetings, etc. c. Provide training sessions and bookkeeping for all clubs/organizations receiving student activities fee dollars including purchase orders, accounts payable requisitions, etc. for Budget Committee records subject to periodic review determined by supervisor 3. Assist clubs and organizations in securing a faculty/staff advisor 4. Assist with special events, such as New Student Orientation, Homecoming, Family Day, Scholastic Day and other similar campus events 5. Serve on committees as assigned 6. Other duties as assigned
Student Leadership Development:
1. Work with CAB, Student Senate and administration to help develop Chadron State College students into leaders by offering them many different leadership opportunities within clubs, organizations, events and jobs on campus 2. Arrange and coordinate leadership speakers, conferences and training sessions to come to Chadron State College for the student body to take advantage of and help grow as leaders 3. Involve, empower, assist and direct student leaders through the development, coordination and evaluation of all student leadership programs and services. 4. Assist the student leaders in accomplishing their personal leadership goals by giving them the opportunities and experiences enabling them to serve and lead 5. Collaborate with the CSC staff, faculty and administration as well as other area leaders and organizations in sharing ideas, new initiatives, and new ways of thinking that will strengthen and further develop the CSC student leadership program 6. Serve as motivator, resource, and role model for students and student organizations through this position 7. Oversee initiatives related to student health and well-being 8. Coordinate the Peer Mentor program Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree and related work experience Preferred Qualifications Experience in higher education student activity planning. Physical Demands The physical requirements for this position may include, but are not necessarily limited to, the ability to use a computer, calculator, telephone, keyboard, and/or various types of office equipment. Must be able to effectively communicate in verbal and written formats and satisfactorily perform the functions of this position.
