Havenwood Heritage Heights is seeking a highly qualified, credentialed Therapeutic Recreation professional to serve as our next Director of Therapeutic Recreation & Programs , with an anticipated opening in June 2027 . Reporting to the President/CEO, this key leadership position requires an experienced professional capable of leading a complex, highly regulated therapeutic recreation and programming operation while maintaining the high standards of quality, engagement, and resident-centered service expected throughout our community. The Director oversees Therapeutic Recreation within our Health Services Center and programming throughout our Retirement Community, ensuring programs support the physical, social, spiritual, and intellectual well-being of residents across the continuum of care. Key Responsibilities Provide leadership and supervision for Therapeutic Recreation and Programs staff. Develop innovative, person-centered programs for residents with diverse interests, needs, and abilities. Ensure compliance with applicable state and federal requirements for therapeutic recreation programming, assessments, care planning, and documentation. Collaborate with Nursing and the interdisciplinary team and participate in resident care conferences and quality assurance initiatives. Oversee activity calendars, special events, fitness and wellness programming, outings, volunteers, and community partnerships. Develop and manage departmental budgets and resources. Provide hands-on programming and leadership support as needed. Continually evaluate and enhance programs to meet the evolving needs and expectations of our residents. Qualifications We are seeking an accomplished Therapeutic Recreation professional with appropriate education, professional credentials, and demonstrated leadership experience in senior living, skilled nursing, long-term care, or a comparable healthcare environment. The successful candidate will bring strong knowledge of regulatory requirements, person-centered therapeutic programming, staff leadership, quality improvement, and program development, along with the ability to successfully manage multiple priorities across a continuum of care.
