What they do
A Recreational Therapist directs and coordinates recreational activities for people with disabilities or illness to help them improve their emotional and physical well-being, improve motor skills and increase confidence. Leads activities involving movement, sports, games, and other activities for brain stimulation. Assists patients with disabilities to learn to use public resources such as parks and public transportation, and integrate in the community. Works with people of all ages, in schools, nursing homes, clinics and other healthcare facilities, or in parks and recreation departments.

What We're Looking For:
- Graduate of an accredited Recreational Therapy program
- Current certification as a Recreational Therapist
- NM PED certification required
- Experience working with children and adolescents preferred, particularly in school settings
- Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
What You'll Do:
- Provide therapeutic recreational services that support students' educational, social, and emotional development
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on student needs
- Collaborate with educators, families, and multidisciplinary teams to support student success
- Document services and maintain accurate records in accordance with district and professional standards
- Promote student engagement, independence, and participation through therapeutic recreation activities
- Support students in achieving functional, behavioral, and social-emotional goals
