Job Description
Job Summary Larchwood Care is seeking a compassionate and energetic Activities Assistant to enrich the lives of our residents. This role involves planning and facilitating engaging activities tailored our population, including those with a variety of health issues. The ideal candidate will have a passion for senior care and experience in recreational therapy, assisted living, or long-term care environments. Your efforts will promote social interaction, mental stimulation, and overall well-being for our residents, creating a warm and supportive community atmosphere. Responsibilities Develop and implement a variety of engaging activities that cater to residents' interests and cognitive abilities, including memory care and dementia-specific programs. Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) as needed, ensuring comfort and dignity. Coordinate with nursing staff and caregivers to schedule activities that complement medical routines and individual care plans. Manage activity schedules efficiently to ensure timely execution of planned events. Foster social interaction among residents through group activities, games, outings, and creative projects. Monitor residents' participation and provide encouragement to promote active engagement. Maintain accurate records of participation and resident feedback to inform future programming. Support residents' emotional well-being by providing companionship and personalized attention during activities. Collaborate with team members to create a vibrant community environment that promotes aging issues counseling, social work principles, and holistic care approaches. Experience Prior experience in event planning or recreational therapy within assisted living, nursing homes, or long-term care facilities is highly desirable. Knowledge of Alzheimer's care, memory care, dementia care, and senior care best practices. Experience working with people with disabilities or in home & community care settings is advantageous. Strong communication skills essential for engaging residents effectively and working collaboratively with staff. Background in caregiving or caregiving-related roles focusing on assisting with ADLs and supporting aging issues counseling. Familiarity with schedule management to coordinate multiple activities seamlessly. Previous exposure to social work principles or therapeutic programming aimed at enhancing quality of life for seniors is a plus.
