Horton Plaza Retirement Community is looking for an energetic, creative, and passionate Activity Director to bring joy, innovation, and adventure to our community! Forget standard bingo nights—we want someone who designs memorable experiences, leverages new technology, and loves hitting the open road to take our residents on unforgettable excursions. This position is 9 am - 5:30 pm Sunday - Thursday. This is a salary exempt position. On-Call as Needed. Activity Director works as part of the facility management team.

What You'll Do:

Design & Innovate:

Create a dynamic, multi-dimensional activities calendar and flyers that includes everything from virtual reality travel and cooking competitions to fitness classes and live entertainment. Lead the

Adventure:

Hop behind the wheel of our community van/bus to safely drive residents to concerts, museum tours, scenic nature drives, and adventures.

Build Community:

Foster a welcoming environment where every resident feels connected, valued, and excited to participate.

Collaborate & Share:

Manage the activities budget, coordinate with local volunteers, and showcase our fun moments on our community social media channels.

What We're Looking For:

The Energy:

A vibrant, enthusiastic personality with a genuine love for seniors.

The Experience:

At least 1-2 years of experience planning events or activities (senior living experience is a huge plus, but we value creativity above all!).

The Credentials:

A valid driver's license with a clean driving record (and the comfort level to drive a multi-passenger community shuttle).

The Spark:

Strong organizational skills, a tech-savvy mindset, and a "let's make it happen" attitude. Must be available to work weekdays and holidays if needed. Successful candidates will be dependable, detail oriented, self-motivated and creative. Must be able to work well unsupervised, have a good attitude, and work well in a team. Must possess a valid Oregon Drivers License and have a great driving record. Must be able to pass a DHS background check and drug screening (including marijuana). Duties include but are not limited to: Motivation of residents and staff to participate in activities Develops resident activity calendar, newsletters, coordinates events, craft classes & provides entertainment Decorates for holidays, events and resident functions Oversees and assists in our Transportation program and Fitness program Assists with Marketing and Fitness programs Keeps an upbeat and promotes a positive atmosphere for our residents, guest and employees Directly supervises 2-4 people on average Are you looking for a position that: Offers an engaging and challenging environment?
