A Recreational Therapist directs and coordinates recreational activities for people with disabilities or illness to help them improve their emotional and physical well-being, improve motor skills and increase confidence. Leads activities involving movement, sports, games, and other activities for brain stimulation. Assists patients with disabilities to learn to use public resources such as parks and public transportation, and integrate in the community. Works with people of all ages, in schools, nursing homes, clinics and other healthcare facilities, or in parks and recreation departments.

Job Description
At Three Rivers Behavioral Health, a 129 bed facility located in West Columbia, SC, we never forget that patients are people -- people with potential, who can have better relationships and live more productive lives. Three Rivers provides psychiatric, detoxification/rehabilitation, and dual diagnosis treatment through inpatient services for adolescents & adults. Our outpatient services include a Partial Hospitalization Program offering psychiatric day treatment for adults and an Adult Chemical Dependency Intensive Outpatient Treatment Program offering day and evening sessions. Three Rivers Behavioral Health currently has a Full Time CTRS/Activity Therapist position available.
Responsibilities:
The CTRS/Activity Therapist completes all activity therapy programming, from assessment, treatment planning, implementation, evaluation, to discharge planning, as assigned. Knowledge of treatment programs, leisure education, social skill development, arts, and sports, needed. The Activity Therapist supports an organizational culture for Service Excellence and practices the Service Excellence standards to all customer groups.

Prefer a minimum of two years' experience in Recreation Therapy field working with a mental health population. Knowledge and experience with behavior management procedures.
