A Recreational Therapist directs and coordinates recreational activities for people with disabilities or illness to help them improve their emotional and physical well-being, improve motor skills and increase confidence. Leads activities involving movement, sports, games, and other activities for brain stimulation. Assists patients with disabilities to learn to use public resources such as parks and public transportation, and integrate in the community. Works with people of all ages, in schools, nursing homes, clinics and other healthcare facilities, or in parks and recreation departments.

- Responsibilities
- We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate PRN Recreational Therapist to work on a multidisciplinary team in the Day Neuro Clinic.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, develop, and implement recreational therapy programs tailored to patients' physical, emotional, cognitive, and social needs.
- Conduct patient assessments and create individualized treatment plans to support rehabilitation goals.
- Utilize a variety of therapeutic activities, including arts, music, games, exercise, and community outings, to promote functional improvement.
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team, including physicians, nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and speech therapists.
- Educate patients and families on the benefits of recreational therapy and provide strategies for continued engagement post-discharge.
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient progress and participate in team meetings to discuss care plans.
- Ensure all activities are conducted in compliance with facility policies and safety guidelines.
- Qualifications
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Recreational Therapy or a related field.- Current national certification from NCTRC as a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS)
Skills:
Strong communication, teamwork, and adaptability to work with diverse patient populations.Schedule:
Must be available for weekend shifts; flexibility to pick up weekday shifts is a plus. \#BSWIR- Inpatient
