Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Activities Director to lead engaging programs that enrich the lives of our residents. Duties Plan, organize, and execute a wide range of recreational activities and events that cater to residents' interests, abilities, and care needs Develop specialized programs for residents with Alzheimer's disease, dementia, or other cognitive impairments, ensuring safety and engagement Coordinate resident events such as outings, celebrations, fitness classes, arts and crafts sessions, and social gatherings Build strong rapport with residents by understanding their preferences and fostering a welcoming environment Collaborate with caregiving staff to integrate therapeutic activities that support residents' physical, emotional, and cognitive health Manage scheduling for activities to ensure consistent participation and smooth operation of programs Maintain detailed records of resident participation, feedback, and program outcomes to continually improve offerings Skills Proven experience in event planning within senior living or assisted living environments Knowledge of Alzheimer's care, dementia care, memory care strategies, and geriatric health issues Strong background in recreational therapy or therapeutic programming for seniors with disabilities or cognitive impairments Excellent communication skills for engaging residents, families, staff, and community partners effectively Ability to develop innovative programs tailored to diverse resident needs while ensuring safety protocols are followed Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite for documentation, scheduling, and communication purposes Demonstrated leadership skills in team coordination and program development within long-term care or senior living facilities Compassionate approach to caregiving with a focus on building meaningful resident rapport Experience working with individuals with disabilities or special needs in a geriatric setting is highly desirable Strong organizational skills for managing schedules, resident records, and event logistics Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education in recreation, therapeutic recreation, gerontology, social services, or a related field preferred. Certification or qualifications as required by applicable federal and state regulations. Previous experience in a long-term care, skilled nursing, assisted living, rehabilitation, or healthcare setting preferred. Experience working with elderly residents and individuals with dementia preferred. Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred. Knowledge of resident-centered care and activities programming. Strong organizational, communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively with residents, families, staff, volunteers, and community members. Ability to plan and conduct activities for residents with diverse physical and cognitive abilities. Basic computer and documentation skills. Physical Requirements Ability to communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff. Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move throughout the facility. Ability to assist with setting up activities and transporting supplies and equipment. Ability to participate in resident outings and activities as needed. Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position in accordance with applicable laws and facility policies.
