Ensure compliance with Resident Rights and HIPAA policies at all times. Ensure that all activity department procedures are followed in accordance with established policies. Assume the authority, responsibility, and accountability of directing the activity department. Plan, develop, organize and implement activity programs that encourages and promotes residents to maintain and develop their highest potential for independent living through their participation in planned recreational and other activities. Participate in community planning related to the interests of the facility and the services and needs of the resident and family. Perform administrative requirements, such as completing necessary forms, reports, etc., and submitting such to the Executive Director as required. Maintain the confidentiality of all resident care information. Involve residents and families in planning facility activity programs. Assist in arranging transportation to other facilities when necessary. Coordinate activities with other departments as necessary. Assist with maintaining an ongoing quality assurance program for the activity department. Participate in facility surveys (inspections) made by authorized government agencies. Interview residents or family members to obtain activity information. Ensure that all charted activity progress notes are informative and descriptive of the services provided and of the resident's response to the service. Maintain a reference library of written material, laws, etc., necessary for complying with current standards and regulations and that will provide assistance in maintaining a quality activity program. Involve the resident/family in planning objectives and goals for the resident. Arrange transportation for field trips when necessary. May perform other reasonable duties as directed by the Executive Director.
