Leads activities involving movement, sports, games, and other activities for brain stimulation. Assists patients with disabilities to learn to use public resources such as parks and public transportation, and integrate in the community. Works with people of all ages, in schools, nursing homes, clinics and other healthcare facilities, or in parks and recreation departments.

Full Time Position:
Daily 9-5 with some flexibility in hours; $20-26/hour DOE Located in Mapleton, Utah. ___________________________________________ Help young men in a therapeutic setting as they progress on their healing journey. Nestled next to the Uinta National Forest in the southern Wasatch Range, Discovery Ranch for Boys is a residential treatment center. Our students struggle with emotional, behavioral, and substance use disorders. This includes depression, anxiety, unhealthy relationships, trauma, and substance abuse. We believe healthy relationships are the foundation of lasting, meaningful change and our experiential curriculum reflects this core value. As our Recreational Therapist, you will develop recreational therapy programs for individual students as well as facilitate group recreational therapy. You will work closely with our Clinical Therapists and Youth Mentors to ensure we deliver consistent, quality programming to our students that engages, challenges, and empowers them .
Duties include:
Guide recreation and experiential therapy groups weekly. Complete recreation therapy intake assessments and develop a treatment plan to meet the treatment goals for each patient. Complete progress notes and other necessary documentation Attend and participate in recreation therapy team meetings, clinical, and treatment team meetings weekly. Plan recreational therapy outings in coordination with outside agencies and other staff while adhering to a budget. Plan and carry out 3-5 adventure camping trips each year Identify, address, and mitigate risks to students and staff involved in activities, especially adventure camping trips Co-facilitate a weekly academic rock climbing class Lead winter sports (snow-boarding, skiing) program through winter months. Requirements Please ensure your resume includes education, work experience, certifications, and licenses State licensure (TRS) and national certification (CTRS) Bachelor's or Master's degree in recreation therapy Holds a previous or current Ropes Course certification Able to pass criminal investigation background check Able to pass motor vehicle record check Current Utah driver's license (within 30 days of employment) 1st Aid & CPR certified (we may provide) Crisis Intervention training (we may provide) Google suite proficiency, or equivalent software Preferred 2-3 years of residential program experience Previous experience working with residential populations Managerial Experience Rock Climbing experience Benefits Full time work Health, dental, vision, accident, critical illness, and other insurance plans available for full-time employees after probationary period Employer contributions to Health Savings Account (HSA) Free Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Significant discounts for hundreds of professional gear brands A few hours from Zion National Park, Bryce Canyon National Park, the Grand Canyon, and Lake Powell A few hours from many world-class ski resorts
