Job Description
Franciscan Shore is seeking a compassionate, enthusiastic, and dependable Recreation Aide to join our assisted living community. The Recreation Aide plays an important role in creating meaningful opportunities for residents to remain engaged, connected, and active while supporting their physical, social, emotional, and spiritual well-being. Working in a
CBRF/RCAC
environment, the Recreation Aide will assist with planning, preparing, and facilitating a variety of recreational, social, cultural, and community activities that reflect the interests, abilities, and individual needs of our residents. This position offers the opportunity to build genuine relationships with residents and help create a welcoming community where each person feels valued, respected, and included. The ideal candidate is patient, creative, personable, and enjoys working with older adults. A willingness to participate in activities, encourage resident involvement, and bring warmth and positive energy to the community is essential. Education and/orExperience:
High school diploma or equivalent. 4 or more years of similar experience is preferred. Required to take the 3 required WI CBRF courses (Standard Precautions, First Aid & Choking and Fire Safety).Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
Able to plan and organize recreational and social activities skills Able to lead individual and group activities Must be reliable Effective communication skills Able to adapt activities for different abilities and interests Time management and prioritizing multiple tasks skills Documentation and record-keeping skills Basic computer and technology skills Problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills Creative in developing meaningful activities Teamwork and collaboration with nursing, caregiving, dietary, and other staff Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries Ability to establish trust and rapport with residents Ability to show patience, empathy, compassion, and respect Ability to motivate residents without being forceful Ability to work effectively with residents experiencing dementia, confusion, anxiety, or behavioral changes Ability to remain calm and professional during challenging situations Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a team Working knowledge of the following: Aging and the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social needs of older adults Dementia and Alzheimer's disease and appropriate activity approaches Person-centered care and resident choice Activities appropriate for individuals with physical or cognitive limitations Fall prevention and general activity safety Infection-control and facility safety procedures Resident rights, dignity, privacy, and confidentiality The importance of socialization, leisure, purpose, and meaningful engagement Basic emergency procedures and when to seek assistance from nursing or caregiving staff Requirements applicable to the facility's CBRF or RCAC settingEssential Duties and Responsibilities:
