ASSISTANT PART-TIME
The Orchards Facilities Are you creative, compassionate, energetic, and passionate about making a difference in the lives of older adults? The Orchards at Foxcrest is looking for an Activity Assistant to join our team! The Activity Assistant plays an important role in creating meaningful experiences for our residents. Working under the direction of the Activity Director, this position assists with planning and leading activities that promote socialization, creativity, cognitive stimulation, physical activity, independence, and overall quality of life.
What You'll Do:
Assist with planning and conducting activities based on residents' individual interests, abilities, and preferences Encourage and motivate residents to participate in activities and programs Provide meaningful one-on-one and group activities that promote socialization, cognitive stimulation, creativity, physical activity, and emotional well-being Assist with special events, holiday celebrations, community outings, and other resident programs Assist residents with safely getting to and from activities Coordinate with entertainers, vendors, volunteers, community organizations, and other service providers Help decorate resident areas and common spaces for holidays, special events, and activities Distribute activity calendars and schedules to residents, families, and staff Communicate with the Activity Director regarding resident participation, preferences, needs, and changes in condition or behavior Maintain accurate documentation of resident participation and activity-related information Assist with activity calendars, schedules, documentation, and other departmental responsibilities Promote resident rights, dignity, privacy, choice, and independence Participation in required meetings, training, in-services, and continuing education Report changes in resident conditions, concerns, or allegations of abuse or neglect according to facility policy Perform other duties as assigned to support resident engagement and quality of life
What We're Looking For:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred Previous experience working with older adults or in senior living, assisted living, skilled nursing, or long-term care preferred Previous activity, recreation, or related experience preferred Experience planning or leading activities for older adults preferred Experience working with residents with dementia or Alzheimer's disease preferred Strong interpersonal and communication skills Creative, enthusiastic, compassionate, and patient approach Ability to develop positive relationships with residents and encourage participation Ability to adapt activities to meet individual resident needs and abilities Ability to remain calm, flexible, and organized when schedules or resident needs change Basic computer skills required Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a team Completion of required state-mandated training and facility in-services CPR and First Aid certification preferred or obtained within the required timeframe Why Join The Orchards?
