Alaska Regional Hospital seeks an experienced RN Critical Care Float to provide expert bedside care across ICU and other high-acuity units. In this role, you'll assess, plan, and implement evidence-based nursing care for complex patients, manage vents and critical drips, and respond to rapid changes in patient condition. You'll collaborate closely with physicians and interdisciplinary teams, support patient and family education, and uphold strict safety and infection-control standards. Responsibilities Deliver high-quality critical care nursing across ICU and other high-acuity units as a float nurse Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans for complex, unstable patients Manage ventilators, titratable IV drips, and advanced hemodynamic monitoring equipment Recognize and respond promptly to changes in patient condition, including participating in rapid response and code situations Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and other team members to coordinate care Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in the EHREducate patients and families on conditions, treatments, and discharge plans Maintain strict adherence to safety, infection control, and hospital policies Support new staff and contribute to a culture of continuous learning and clinical excellence Participate in unit-based quality improvement and evidence-based practice initiatives Required Skills Critical care nursing Hemodynamic monitoring Ventilator management Medication administration (IV drips) Cardiac rhythm interpretation Electronic Health Records (EHR) documentation Rapid assessment and triage Central line and arterial line care Infection control practices Patient and family education
