The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed and are not intended to be a complete list of all responsibilities, duties, and skills required. SUMMARY Assesses and evaluates the health status of resident/patient and provides care and treatment in accordance with physician orders, standards of practice, and federal guidelines.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following but not limited to: Assesses patient/resident by physical examination including wound measurements, pertinent diagnostic testing, etc. to determine health status Reviews patient/resident records for general health status to include risk factors Administers treatments per physician orders along with state/federal guidelines Participates in care planning process and oversees implementation of the wound plan of care Documents assessment of wounds to include staging and treatment provided in compliance with standards of care and company policy Completes required forms and documentation in accordance with company policy and state/federal regulations Communicates with physicians and responsible parties/family regarding changes in wound condition Educates patient/resident and/or responsible party/family regarding wound condition and treatment Provides educational opportunities to staff regarding wound prevention, care and healing Adheres to scope of practice limitations based upon qualifications Will adhere to infection control standards based upon company policies and CDC guidelines Will perform general nursing duties in cases of emergency or staffing shortages as assigned by
DON ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing Valid state licensure as an RN Current CPR certification Ability to verbalize and/or demonstrate understanding of wound assessment, staging, and healing process of wounds Ability to verbalize and/or demonstrate understanding of infection control practices
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
May assist with supervising Licensed Nursing staff, CNAs, and/or others for whom they are administratively or professionally responsible. Completes annual evaluations for potential merit increases for direct reports.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND ENVIRONMENT
Shift work may be required. Employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, reach with hands and arms, feel, talk, and hear. Employee will occasionally assist with lifting and transferring of residents/patients weighing between 100-250 lbs. Employee is occasionally exposed to blood and/or other body fluids, fumes or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals. May be required to respond to critical facility issues on a 24/7 basis. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Participates in (or conducts) company-sponsored training to safeguard against improper use and disclosure of such information. Monitors and ensures compliance with company policies, procedures and state and federal law.
