Job Description

Category Nursing - RN-ER Job Type Contract Seeking a skilled RN with strong Emergency Room experience for a contract assignment within a dynamic, high-acuity environment. This position involves caring for diverse patient types in a 71-bed Level II trauma facility that often functions at Level I acuity. The assignment runs from 7/20/26 through 10/17/26.
Schedule:
12-hour shifts: 7:00am - 7:00pm Rotating weekends: Every other weekend or 4 weekend days per month (block scheduling available) No on-call requirements
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
Valid RN license with at least 2 years of recent critical care (ER/MS hold/ICU hold), including consistent experience in Level II ER or higher Experience with Cerner or Epic electronic medical records platforms Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, Secure/CPI (nationally recognized/JACHO accepted), NIHSS, TNCC Prior experience with high-acuity trauma, multi-system trauma, and a patient mix including STEMI, stroke, CHF, COPD, GI, GU, OB/GYN, pediatrics, and psychiatric care Proficiency with trach and vent care, ICU drip management, chest tubes, art lines, CVLs, PICCs, ports, foleys, splinting, bipap/hiflow, and continuous bladder irrigation
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver expert, compassionate care to a complex patient population with multiple comorbidities Manage appropriate nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:4 (ER), 1:5 (MS holds), 1:3 (ICU holds) Collaborate with CNAs, charge nurses, phlebotomists, IV/VAT teams, and hospitalists Utilize advanced technology and equipment, including Plum 360 IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, Spacelabs monitoring, and Cerner EMR Complete orientation (24 hours classroom + 24 hours unit shadowing for first-time or returning travelers gone for 1+ years) Benefits include flexible time-off approval (up to 7 days) outside facility blackout dates, convenient parking garage access, and the freedom to wear any solid color scrubs.
