ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Uses principles of evidence-based nursing practice for decision making. Maintains accurate and timely record keeping. Consults with team of campus nurses to establish, review, and revise policy and procedures for administration approval. Adheres to emergency procedures and safety measures. Dispenses medication according to physicians orders and school policy. Follows medication administration protocols. Provides student/personnel health services. Supervises designated school personnel in the proper administering of first aid and medications. Assists with in-service programs for school personnel for first aid, emergency care, and current health issues. Adheres to the district's policies and procedures. Demonstrates regular and prompt attendance. Uses professional and clear communication skills with parents, staff, and faculty regarding student health issues. Conducts mandated screening programs for students at designated grade levels: Vision, Hearing, Scoliosis, Growth and Development. Implements appropriate nursing measures to meet identified health needs of students. Administers first aid in accordance with American Red Cross and National Association of School Nurses guidelines. Maintains current immunization records on all students. Interprets medical reports and contacts physician for clarification of the students' medical needs while at school. Teaches three classes to students grade 7-12 per 9-week quarter. Classes include health and medical terminology.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

Attends staff meetings as assigned. Continually strives to improve knowledge within the field. Performs other duties as requested or assigned.
