Med 4 offers nurses the opportunity to develop strong assessment skills while caring for a diverse patient population with low to moderate acuity.

6:1 Patient Population Common diagnoses include: Stroke and transient ischemic attacks (TIA) Seizure disorders and altered mental status Acute and chronic kidney disease Electrolyte imbalances Urinary tract infections and urinary retention Kidney stones and hydronephrosis Post-urologic procedure patients Clinical Skills & Experience Nurses on Med 4 frequently care for patients with: Foley catheters Nephrostomy tubes Continuous bladder irrigation (CBI) Dialysis access devices Enteral feeding tubes Telemetry monitoring This unit provides valuable experience in neurological assessments, stroke protocols, fluid and electrolyte management, renal medication monitoring, and multidisciplinary care coordination with nephrology and urology specialists. Qualifications Education Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN, Diploma, or BSN) Licensure Current RN license in the hiring state or compact licensure Certifications BLS required ACLS required or obtained within 90 days of hire Why Mercy?
