Job Summary:

The APP functions as an expert in patient assessment, clinical exams, and appropriate interventions. The APP will have extensive contact with patients, requiring collaboration with physicians and other healthcare professionals. The APP is dedicated to the provision of competent, compassionate, and ethical care of patients in the inpatient and outpatient settings. Job Duties /

Responsibilities:

Provide comprehensive care to oncology/hematology patients in inpatient/outpatient settings.

Appropriately order, review, and interpret laboratory and diagnostic procedures.

Provide prompt management of acute symptoms related to the disease and/or treatment.

Ability to work independently, while collaborating with Medical Oncologists and other providers, as indicated.

Demonstrate knowledge of disease-specific and clinic protocols.

Able to instruct patients and families on treatment courses.

Consult Social Worker or other Allied Health staff as needed.

Perform procedures such as bone marrow biopsies after appropriate training.

Prescribes medication as per state licensing guidelines but does not prescribe initial chemotherapy or biotherapy.

Utilizes resources such as NCCN and UpToDate.

Comply with company policies and procedures, and HIPAA regulations.

Assists in the smooth functioning of the clinic in a cost-effective manner.

Act as liaison to consultants, patients, and families regarding disease state, treatment course and overall plan of care.

Shall act within the lawful limits of the Arkansas State Board of Nursing APRN or DNP Collaborative Practice Agreement or the Arkansas State Medical Board PA Protocol.

Will be required to work weekends and holidays on a rotational basis.
