DEFINITION/PURPOSE

Provide direct patient care to patients of the Wassaja Memorial Health Center, an outpatient facility and other required and assigned duties.

TASKS:

Assesses patients requesting medical service of all ages from pediatrics to geriatrics; determines nature of illness/need; provides information and assistance to physician, nurse practitioner or other health professional; provides written assessment; plans/recommends/revises patient care as needed; documents objective and subjective data, nursing interventions and patient response to treatment; educates and counsels patients as to treatment and treatment options; interfaces with patient's family on medications and treatments ordered; initiates treatment, starts IV's, perform EKG, draws blood, spirometer; performs other tests as necessary or ordered; notes physician, nurse practitioner or other health professional orders accurately and in a timely manner: evaluates patient progress towards goals and expected outcomes in collaboration with other health care team members; contributes to the Wassaja Memorial Health Center and Yavapai Community patients through activities that lead to excellent patient outcomes through timely, effective, efficient, equitable and safe care. Administers therapeutic measures prescribed by the provider including medications, treatments, fluids and other interventions; develops and presents policies and procedures for accreditation; meets reporting requirements; orders and maintains inventory and stock of commonly utilized medical supplies; performs other duties as assigned or required. Participates in meeting infection Control requirements as established departmental policies, and serves as an active participant in departmental performance improvement activities and clinical staff activities. Oversee clinic's program. Participating in the Crisis Response Team training program and implementing the knowledge to help the Wassaja Community Health patients and Yavapai Nation Community.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS

Knowledge of professional nursing principles, practices, concepts and procedures; Knowledge of disease identification, treatment protocols and intervention techniques; Knowledge of the principles of patient/case management; Knowledge of procedural and treatment techniques of advanced life support; Knowledge of state and Federal laws and regulations governing the administering of narcotic and non-narcotic drugs; Knowledge of the principles of record keeping; Skill in the diagnosing of illness and injury; Skill in applying the principles and practices of approved medical treatment and care to individual patients/situations; Skill in providing instructions and educations to patients; Skill in effectively and efficiently managing a large number of patient files; Skill in utilizing a computer with Electronic Health Record, word processing, Internet, and spreadsheet software such as the Arizona State Immunization Information System (ASIIS); Skill to cooperate with Pharmacy at Wassaja Memorial Health Center Chief Pharmacist and Pharmacy Technician; Skill in establishing and maintaining effective and cooperative working relationships with other departments of the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation, other local, state and Federal agencies, contractors, vendors, patients, their families, and other interested parties.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION/EDUCATION

1.) Current active licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Arizona with at least 1 year experience as a registered nurse in a clinical environment. 2.) BLS certification is required 3). Additional certification or continuing education may be required based on area of practice 4.) Current AZ driver's license and meet FMYN insurance standards.
