Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled and dynamic RN Director of the Emergency Department to lead and oversee all clinical operations within our emergency services. This leadership role requires a comprehensive understanding of acute care, patient monitoring, and hospital protocols to ensure the delivery of exceptional emergency care. The RN Director will be responsible for managing nursing staff, ensuring regulatory compliance, and fostering a collaborative environment that prioritizes patient safety, quality improvement, and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in critical care, hospital management, and team leadership, with a strong commitment to upholding residents' rights and healthcare standards. Duties Provide strategic leadership and supervision for nursing staff within the Emergency Department, promoting professional development and team cohesion. Oversee patient care delivery, ensuring adherence to clinical protocols, safety standards, and regulatory policies including HIPAA and state healthcare regulations. Manage shift scheduling, resource allocation, and staffing levels to optimize patient flow and staff workload. Ensure accurate documentation review, medical records management, and compliance with healthcare documentation standards. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop care plans that incorporate physiology knowledge, anatomy expertise, and surgical nursing principles. Monitor quality metrics and implement continuous quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes. Maintain proficiency in EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems for efficient recordkeeping and data analysis. Lead regulatory compliance efforts related to Medicare, Medicaid, and other federal or state healthcare programs. Facilitate staff training on medical terminology, acute care procedures, case management strategies, and regulatory updates. Oversee budget management related to departmental operations while ensuring cost-effective practices without compromising care quality. Requirements Extensive experience in emergency nursing with a strong background in critical care environments. Proven nurse management experience with demonstrated leadership in hospital or healthcare settings. In-depth knowledge of health regulation policies including HIPAA, Medicare requirements, and state healthcare regulations. Proficiency in EMR systems, medical records management, documentation review, and healthcare IT tools. Strong understanding of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, surgical nursing practices, and patient monitoring techniques. Demonstrated success in supervising teams, managing shift operations, and leading project initiatives focused on quality improvement. Excellent managerial communication skills with the ability to foster teamwork across diverse healthcare professionals. Experience with home health agencies or assisted living facilities is a plus but not required. Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) or higher; current RN licensure in good standing; additional certifications in emergency or critical care preferred. Knowledge of regulatory compliance standards related to acute care settings including resident's rights and home health regulations.
