1 Description American Traveler is hiring an experienced NICU RN with a Level
III NICU
background to provide specialized neonatal care on a day shift schedule. Details Level
III NICU
setting caring for neonates ranging from under 24 weeks to over 34 weeks gestation Patient ratio of 1:3 Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM Every other weekend required No on-call requirements Epic EMR experience required Requirements Active CA RN license required Current BLS and NRP certifications required Minimum 2 years of NICU experience required Experience with IV therapy, blood and blood product administration, and starting/maintaining IVs required Experience with emergency medications, antibiotics/antivirals, and anti-seizure medications required Competency in APGAR scoring, developmental care, patient/family teaching, and thermoregulation required Experience with neonatal sepsis management and infectious disease precautions required Experience with feeding management including bottle, breast, and gavage feedings required Blood glucose monitoring and phototherapy experience required Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred Charge nurse experience preferred Preferred skills include arterial line management, central line care, UAC/UVC management, conscious sedation, IV vasopressors, and high-risk delivery attendance Preferred respiratory skills include bubble CPAP, high frequency ventilation, chest tube management, nitric oxide administration, oscillators, and ventilator management Preferred experience with necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC), therapeutic hypothermia, and lumbar puncture assistance 2 supervisor references obtained within the past year required Additional Information Provide comprehensive, individualized patient care including assessment, care planning, and coordination with physicians and multidisciplinary teams Serve as liaison between nursing and medical staff to facilitate collaborative patient care Exercise clinical judgment and critical thinking across routine and complex neonatal cases Document and communicate patient assessments, care plans, and outcomes with the healthcare team Must reside within a 50-mile radius to be eligible for local candidate rate Former employees must have a 1-year separation period before returning as a traveler Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract Only one holiday may be requested off per contract, with holiday coverage expected for New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas Re-orientation only required for travelers separated 6+ months since their last shift at this facility
