Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Pre-Operative / Post-Operative Nurse to join our dynamic surgical team. Responsibilities Perform detailed patient assessments, including vital signs, medical history, and current medications, to ensure readiness for surgery Educate patients about pre-operative procedures, fasting requirements, and post-operative care instructions Verify patient identification and surgical site to prevent errors using aseptic techniques and established protocols Collaborate with surgical teams, anesthesiologists, and physicians to coordinate care plans and ensure all necessary documentation is complete in EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic or Cerner Assist with specimen collection, preparation of surgical sites, and maintaining sterile environments during pre-operative procedures Monitor patients' physical status during pre-op phase, including IV infusion setup and medication administration as needed Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and infection control standards throughout all patient interactions Requirements Valid nursing license with current registration in relevant jurisdiction Proven experience in medical-surgical nursing, hospital medicine, or outpatient surgical settings Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology relevant to perioperative care Experience with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner for accurate documentation Skilled in IV insertion, medication administration, suturing, and aseptic technique Familiarity with diagnostic evaluation tools including laboratory experience and ICD coding (ICD-10/ICD-9) is preferred Critical care experience or ICU background is advantageous for managing acute pain management and airway management situations Ability to work effectively with diverse patient populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, individuals with disabilities or developmental disabilities, and those requiring hospice & palliative medicine or memory care support Excellent communication skills for patient education and interdisciplinary collaboration Knowledge of infection control practices and sterile processing procedures Join us to be part of a compassionate team committed to delivering top-tier pre-operative care.
