Job Description
MLK Community Hospital seeks a full-time RN Circulator Nurse to provide safe, evidence-based perioperative care in a busy, mission-driven OR serving South Los Angeles. Responsibilities include pre-op assessment, intraoperative circulating duties, collaborating with surgeons and anesthesia, maintaining sterile and safe environments, accurate EMR documentation, and post-op handoffs. The nurse supports culturally competent, patient-first care, mentors newer staff, participates in quality and safety initiatives, and upholds equity, compassion, and accountability in every patient interaction. Responsibilities Provide circulating RN support for surgical procedures in the operating room Perform thorough pre-operative nursing assessments and verify consents Maintain a safe, sterile, and culturally competent care environment Coordinate with surgeons, anesthesia, and perioperative team members Monitor patient status and advocate for patient safety throughout procedures Document care accurately in the EMR and complete perioperative records Support post-operative handoff and patient education as needed Participate in quality, safety, and infection-prevention initiatives Mentor and support newer perioperative staff when appropriate Required Skills Operating room nursing Patient assessment Pre- and post-operative care Circulating RN duties Electronic Medical Record (EMR) documentation Aseptic and sterile technique Medication administration Intraoperative monitoring Care coordination Patient and family education
