Job Description

Take on a high-impact leadership role as Nurse Manager Emergency Services and help shape an outstanding Emergency Department experience in a growing coastal healthcare community.

Joining a mission-driven, nationally respected system, the Nurse Manager Emergency Services will become part of an organization recognized for patient safety, clinical excellence, and compassionate care. The Emergency Department Nurse Manager will benefit from advanced technologies such as a modern EHR, rapid diagnostics, point-of-care ultrasound, and AI-enhanced sepsis surveillance that improve outcomes. Recognition for quality, stroke readiness, and cardiovascular response is supported by a culture focused on continuous improvement, shared governance, and evidence-based practice. The Nurse Manager Emergency Services will play a key role in a Magnet-aspirant nursing culture dedicated to professional growth, interprofessional teamwork, and clinical innovation.

Within a modern 150+ bed acute care hospital, the Nurse Manager Emergency Services will lead a high-acuity Emergency Department supported by rapid triage, fast-track throughput, and observation services. Time-sensitive care is backed by 24/7 laboratory and imaging services, tele-stroke collaboration, and standardized protocols for Code Blue, Code Stroke, Sepsis, and Trauma Activations. An adjacent intensive care service, perioperative program, and Level III Neonatal Intensive Care capabilities promote smooth transitions of care across the continuum. The Emergency Room Nurse Manager will ensure competency in ECG interpretation, medication safety, blood product administration, and the safe operation of critical care equipment for patient populations ranging from newborns to geriatric adults.

Reporting to the Director of Emergency and Critical Care Services, the Nurse Manager Emergency Services will collaborate with engaged charge nurses, clinical educators, and a welcoming, diverse team of RNs, technicians, paramedics, and providers. This Emergency Services Nursing Manager will oversee strategic staffing and scheduling, talent development, and performance management while working to improve throughput and door-to-provider times and reduce LWBS. Cross-functional collaboration with case management, hospitalists, ICU, perioperative services, radiology, and laboratory will support safe admissions, efficient handoffs, and an exceptional patient experience. The Clinical Nurse Manager Emergency Services will maintain policies, accreditation standards, and readiness for stroke, trauma, and sepsis metrics while supporting BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC competencies.

Located in a sought-after coastal California region, the Nurse Manager Emergency Services will enjoy a temperate climate well suited to outdoor activities throughout the year. Weekends offer opportunities to hike coastal bluffs, cycle through rolling vineyards, surf, kayak, or unwind in natural hot springs and nearby dunes. A lively arts and music scene features concerts, festivals, galleries, and theater, complemented by farm-to-table dining, craft breweries, and renowned wineries. Family-friendly neighborhoods, excellent schools, and convenient access to parks and beaches support a balanced, active lifestyle.
