$46.41-$64.98 Job Summary Under supervision, uses the full scope of the Nurse Practice Act to assess, plan, organize, and provide nursing care to assigned patients in accordance with physician instructions. Makes preliminary observations of and prepares patients for medical treatment. The RN is responsible for the on-site care of patients and for evaluating and renewing prescription refill requests by following established prescription renewal protocols and processes. The RN may need to cover for clinical nurses as needed to provide direct patient care, to include the administration of medications and immunizations, performing nursing procedures, and patient education, as well as to provide triage services and care management, to include patient assessment and education, and arranging for necessary appointments/ referrals. This position is also responsible for working closely with physicians. Obtains patient consent for care and ensures patient confidentiality and documents health history, information on chief complaints, vital signs, and health risk factors and assesses disease condition. Inputs all patient information into the electronic medical record(s). Assists physicians in administering treatments and in performing medical examinations and diagnostic tests. As directed, administers, or dispenses prescribed treatment and medications to patients; charts treatment and dispensing to patients and records and reports significant changes in condition and general progress of patient. Counsels and advises patients, families, and significant others regarding special medical problems and/or proper health care methods. Prepares and maintains concise and complete records and reports. Works independently to evaluate and renew prescription refill requests by following established prescription renewal protocols and processes. Attends departmental meetings as needed and serves as a resource for Licensed Vocational Nurses, Medical Assistants, and other Registered Nurses Ability to speak and read English at a level that is sufficient to satisfactorily perform the essential functions of the position. Knowledge of standard office equipment (i.e., calculator, fax, photocopier) and personal computer and computer software skills (i.e., MS Windows, Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, internet, e-mail). Windows computer skills including proficient use of keyboarding, use of mouse or keys for functions such as selecting items, use of drop-down menus, scroll bars, opening folders, copying and similar operations required upon employment or within the 1st two weeks of employment to perform the essential functions of the job. Performs other duties as assigned. Follows Palomar Health Medical Group rules, policies, procedures, applicable laws, and standards.
