1 Description American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a combined Labor & Delivery/Well-Baby Nursery/Postpartum unit requiring both L&D and postpartum experience and advanced fetal monitoring certification. Details Acute care Level 3 trauma hospital setting Combined 10-bed unit covering Labor & Delivery, Well-Baby Nursery, and Postpartum L&D ratios typically 1:1-2 following AWHONN guidelines, postpartum couplet care at 1:4 Unit performs approximately 30-40 deliveries per month Patient population includes high-risk deliveries 35 weeks and above, twin deliveries, drug-exposed infants under withdrawal protocol, and occasional post-op gyn surgery patients on the PP side Uses Cerner EMR and Philips telemetry, with Fetal Link fetal heart monitoring system 12-hour night shifts, 7p-7a, with self-scheduling and every other weekend required First to float among staff, with rare floating to Med-Surg or CCU only if desired, and must work both L&D and PP sides of the unit Charge nurse takes a patient assignment; no nurse aides on unit No IV team; Respiratory Therapy available 24/7; pharmacy in-house only 10 hours per day Hospitalist coverage available 24/7 with 4 OB/GYNs and 2 midwives, no neonatologist in house RNs are not required to scrub in for C-sections, as OR covers this Floor-specific orientation is 2-3 days Requirements Active CA RN license required Minimum 3 years of experience required BSN not required Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP, and AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring (AFM) Must have both postpartum and L&D experience Must be comfortable independently running and managing deliveries Must be teamwork oriented Cerner EMR experience Copy of driver's license required for consideration Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including employment dates and rehire eligibility Additional Information Manage labor, delivery, postpartum, and well-baby nursery patient care Navy scrub color required Holiday coverage required as part of the permanent staff rotation Schedules are built 30-45 days in advance with some self-scheduling flexibility On-call shifts available for those who want them First-time travelers may be considered
