What they do
A Registered Nurse provides medical care and treatment, educates patients about their conditions, and provides emotional support to patients and families. Works in hospitals, schools, clinics or community health centers. Works under the supervision of a physician or other specialist, and serves as the primary point of care for patients in a hospital setting. May specialize in emergency room work, or treatment for a particular condition, or specialize in working with infants, the elderly or other patient groups. May work as an advanced practice specialists and prescribe medications in addition to offering specialty care.

Job Description
Required Qualifications:
Two (2) years of recent PACU or PICU experience as a registered nurse Three (3) years of recent pediatric experience as a registered nurse Excellent verbal and written skills. Must be well organized and detail oriented with the ability to multi-task and work independently and under pressure. Basic computer keyboard skills and general PC knowledge. Required On-Call commitment This position requires flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locationsPreferred Qualifications:
Two years of Critical Care experience as RN (PICU, ED, ICU) BSN Preferred Experience inAmbulatory Surgical Care Center Licensure/Certifications:
Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of California. Current healthcare provider CPR certification Active American Heart Association PALS Certification ASPAN certification strongly preferred Maintain knowledge and abilities essential for nursing practice. Adhere to the Nurse Practice Act and legal responsibilities. Provide safe and therapeutic care using the nursing process. Function as an active member of the interdisciplinary and nursing teams. Carry out established nursing procedures and related duties. Provide nursing care for patients with complex needs under supervision. Assist in managing patient care administered by other nursing team members. Demonstrate service excellence and adhere to Living PRIDE standards. Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to safety protocols. Flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Health locations.Benefits
