JOB SUMMARY
General Description The Pre-admissions Testing Nurse is responsible for obtaining preoperative assessments and testing for Prowers Medical Centers Surgical patients. Responsibility The Nurse conducts assessments, documents findings, and ensures information is placed in the patient's medical record. The Nurse identifies and resolves challenges and obstacles to support an efficient preoperative process leading to surgery. Preoperative education is delivered based on the patient's diagnosis and planned procedure. A therapeutic environment is maintained, and interdisciplinary collaboration is performed as appropriate. The role requires the ability to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and accurately document preoperative testing for preoperative patients. Ongoing communication is maintained with physicians, the Nurse Manager, coworkers, and anesthesia providers, as appropriate, regarding changes in a patient's clinical condition, including diagnostic study results and symptoms. Responsibilities also include assisting with ensuring that the preoperative history and physical, surgical consent, and physician admission orders are completed and in place for the morning of surgery. All policies and procedures are followed, and scheduling is managed effectively for a variety of surgical procedures, including General Surgery, OB/GYN, Orthopedics, and Ophthalmology, etc. Effectively engages patient interactions of evaluations of surgical care through post-operative phone contact. Astute communication skills with employees, physicians, visitors, patients/families and Administration. Ability to adjust to job situations, which involve many different people and projects, requiring some independent action and judgment.
Qualifications Education:
Graduate from accredited school of nursing, current state Nurse Licensure, BCLS certification, Maintains appropriate certifications per unit specifications, ACLS certification within one (1) year of employment
Experience:
Previous related experience. Graduate nurses with one year of Medical/Surgical experience preferred. Salary Range $34.03 - $41.85 per hour based on experience plus night and weekend shift differential.
