A Registered Nurse provides medical care and treatment, educates patients about their conditions, and provides emotional support to patients and families. Works in hospitals, schools, clinics or community health centers. Works under the supervision of a physician or other specialist, and serves as the primary point of care for patients in a hospital setting. May specialize in emergency room work, or treatment for a particular condition, or specialize in working with infants, the elderly or other patient groups. May work as an advanced practice specialists and prescribe medications in addition to offering specialty care.

Current New York State Department of Health Veterans Home at Montrose employee with permanent or contingent permanent status as a Registered Nurse 1, Grade 18.Transfer:
Current New York State employee with one or more years of permanent, contingent-permanent, or 55 b/c service in a position eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law, to a Registered Nurse 1, Grade 18.Open Competitive HELPS qualifications:
Possession of a license and current registration as a registered professional nurse in New York State.Preferred Qualifications:
The preferred candidate would have experience in a Long-Term Care setting with a geriatric population. Additional Comments All Shifts Available. We are a 252-bed long term skilled care nursing facility providing care to the Veterans of our community. Degrees awarded from educational institutions outside of the United States, or its territories must be independently verified for equivalency.Please see https:

Posted salary range ($118,726 - $128,120) includes statutory hiring rate at step 4 and job rate for grade 18, plus a geographic pay differential of $35,000, & downstate adjustment of $4,150. If applicable, the inconvenience pay program of $825 per year will be paid to employees who work four (4) hours or more between 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. Hours worked between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. on an overtime basis are not included for Inconvenience Pay.
