2996671083-2 Apply for this job now Job Description MidState Medical Center, part of Hartford HealthCare, seeks a Perinatal Safety Nurse to lead safety initiatives across labor & delivery and postpartum units. In this role, you will monitor maternal-fetal safety indicators, conduct risk assessments and chart audits, and coordinate responses to safety events. You will coach staff on evidence-based protocols, support simulation drills, and collaborate with physicians and leaders to standardize care. Responsibilities Lead perinatal safety initiatives across labor & delivery and postpartum units Monitor maternal-fetal safety indicators and implement evidence-based protocols Conduct risk assessments, chart audits, and root-cause analyses for safety events Educate and coach nurses and providers on perinatal safety best practices and bundles Coordinate multidisciplinary safety huddles and debriefs Track and report safety metrics and outcomes to leadership and quality teams Support simulation drills for obstetric emergencies and fetal monitoring Collaborate with physicians, midwives, and ancillary staff to standardize care processes Ensure compliance with regulatory, Joint Commission, and system safety standards Engage patients and families in safety education and shared decision-making Required Skills Perinatal nursing Fetal heart rate monitoring Obstetric emergency management Clinical risk assessment Chart auditing and data analysis Quality improvement methodologies Regulatory and Joint Commission compliance Clinical education and staff coaching Interdisciplinary team coordination Patient and family safety education
