Company Overview The Connecticut Behavioral Health Hospital is a free-standing acute care inpatient psychiatric hospital, located in West Hartford, offers comprehensive mental health treatment to adults 50 years and older. Our integrated model delivers psychiatric and medical care for those suffering mental health issues. Patients are treated by psychiatric providers with expertise in the care of older adults. We are seeking Registered Nurses for evening shift full and part time.

POSITION SUMMARY

At the CT Behavioral Health Hospital the nurse will provide care through physical and mental assessments. Knowledgeable of a wide range of disorders; cognitive, emotional, developmental, social and behavioral. Performs crisis intervention.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Utilizes the nursing process to plan and provide patient care and to evaluate results of these interventions. Utilizes effective communication skills in interpersonal relationships with patient, families and other members of the health care team. Makes appropriate decisions with information received from assessments Identifies and defines nursing diagnosis/nursing problems from assessment data. Demonstrates knowledge and applications of professional standards of care and nursing process in daily practice. Initiates a patient treatment plan on each assigned admission based on nursing assessment and identification of nursing problems within unit specific guidelines.

REQUIREMENTS

Current State of CT Registered Nurse license. A minimum of (1) year experience in a behavioral health care setting (preferred) Knowledge of a wide range of psychosocial, cognitive and/or developmental disorders. Experience in gerontological nursing preferred. BS in nursing or health-related field preferred
