The Charge Nurse is responsible for overseeing all aspects of patient care during their shift, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality nursing services while maintaining compliance with AHCA regulations and physician orders. This position provides direct nursing care to medically complex children, supervises clinical staff, coordinates treatments, communicates with physicians and families, and ensures each child's individualized plan of care is followed. Qualifications Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Current Florida Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing. Minimum of two (2) years of pediatric nursing experience preferred. Experience with medically complex children preferred. Current BLS/CPR Certification (PALS preferred). Current negative Tuberculosis (PPD) test. Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to supervise and mentor LPNs and CNAs. Essential Responsibilities Serve as the clinical leader and Charge Nurse during assigned shifts. Supervise all nursing staff, CNAs, and clinical personnel. Complete comprehensive nursing assessments upon admission and as needed. Develop, implement, and monitor individualized nursing care plans. Administer medications according to physician orders. Perform and supervise enteral (G-tube) feedings, medication administration, and feeding pump management. Monitor patients receiving continuous or intermittent enteral nutrition for tolerance and complications. Perform tracheostomy care and suctioning as ordered. Manage oxygen therapy and respiratory treatments. Perform catheterizations and other skilled nursing procedures. Monitor vital signs, pulse oximetry, blood glucose, seizure activity, and overall patient status throughout the day. Respond immediately to changes in patient condition and medical emergencies. Ensure physician orders are accurately implemented. Communicate changes in patient condition with physicians, parents/guardians, therapists, and the interdisciplinary team. Maintain accurate clinical documentation within the electronic medical record. Verify medication orders, treatment schedules, and nursing documentation for accuracy. Ensure infection prevention and control policies are followed. Monitor medical equipment to ensure proper function and safety. Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement activities. Assist with staff orientation, training, and competency evaluations. Ensure compliance with AHCA regulations, HIPAA, OSHA, and all PPEC policies. Promote a safe, nurturing, and family-centered environment. Clinical Skills The RN Charge Nurse should demonstrate competency in: Medication Administration G-Tube Feeding and Care Enteral Feeding Pump Management Tracheostomy Care Airway Suctioning Oxygen Administration Nebulizer Treatments Pulse Oximetry Monitoring Blood Glucose Monitoring Seizure Monitoring Catheterization Wound Care Infection Control Emergency Response Pediatric Assessment Documentation and Care Planning License/Certification Current Florida RN License (Required) CPR/BLS Certification (Required) Experience Minimum of two (2) years of pediatric nursing experience preferred.

Pay:

$35.00 per hour Expected hours: 8.0 per week
