Job Description

Surgery Ventures, part of HCA Healthcare, seeks an experienced Operating Room Nurse PRN Seasonal Float to support ambulatory surgery centers. In this flexible, seasonal role, you will circulate and scrub for a variety of outpatient surgical procedures, ensuring safe, evidence-based perioperative care. Responsibilities include pre-op assessments, intraoperative monitoring, and post-anesthesia recovery support, strictly following regulatory and infection control standards. You will collaborate closely with surgeons and anesthesia teams, educate patients and families, and help optimize surgical workflows while maintaining a strong focus on patient safety and quality outcomes. Responsibilities Provide circulating and scrubbing nursing care for outpatient surgical procedures Conduct pre-operative patient assessments and verify consents, history, and medications Monitor patients intraoperatively, documenting care and responding to changes in condition Support post-anesthesia recovery and coordinate safe patient handoffs Maintain strict aseptic technique and infection prevention practices Prepare, count, and manage surgical instruments, supplies, and implants Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and surgical techs to optimize case flow Educate patients and families on pre- and post-operative instructions Ensure compliance with regulatory, safety, and quality standards (e.g., HCA, CMS, Joint Commission) Participate in quality improvement and process optimization within ambulatory surgery centers Required Skills Perioperative nursing Circulating and scrubbing techniques Patient assessment and monitoring Aseptic technique and infection control Outpatient/ambulatory surgery workflows Intraoperative documentation and EMR use Pre- and post-operative patient education Critical thinking and rapid response Instrument and supply management Interdisciplinary team collaboration
