Responsibilities Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and medical history documentation using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic or Cerner. Administer medications and injections accurately, including IV infusions and medication management for acute pain or chronic conditions. Assist with diagnostic procedures such as catheterization, suturing, phlebotomy, and specimen collection/processing to support physicians' evaluations. Manage airway care, ventilator support, and aseptic techniques to ensure patient safety in critical care environments like ICU or trauma centers. Provide specialized care for diverse populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, behavioral health patients, individuals with developmental disabilities, and those requiring hospice or palliative medicine. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams on discharge planning, case management, and long-term care strategies to optimize patient outcomes. Maintain meticulous medical documentation adhering to HIPAA regulations and ICD coding standards (ICD-9/10), ensuring compliance with NCQA standards. Support infection control protocols and participate in emergency response procedures such as triage in urgent care or emergency room settings. Educate patients and families on health coaching topics like nutrition, medication administration, wound care (including ostomy care), and post-acute recovery processes. Qualifications Valid RN license in good standing with current state registration. Proven experience in acute care settings such as hospital medicine, ICU (including Level I & II Trauma Centers), emergency medicine, or surgical units. Demonstrated proficiency with EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth; experience with medical documentation and ICD coding is highly preferred. Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, pharmacology, and medical terminology essential for accurate patient assessment and treatment planning. Hands-on experience with IV insertion, catheterization (including Foley catheters), tube feeding management, ventilator support, and aseptic techniques. Ability to work effectively with diverse populations including children (neonatal ventilator experience preferred), seniors (geriatrics & memory care), individuals with disabilities or behavioral health needs. Critical care experience such as ICU or trauma medicine is highly valued; familiarity with infectious disease care and occupational health protocols is a plus. Excellent communication skills for collaborating within multidisciplinary teams and providing clear patient education. Flexibility to work various shifts across inpatient units or outpatient clinics; travel nursing experience is advantageous but not required.
