Job Description

Tallahassee Outpatient Surgery Center seeks a PACU Registered Nurse to provide exceptional pre- and post-anesthesia care for same-day surgical patients. In this role, you will assess, monitor, and recover patients following a variety of procedures, manage IVs and pain control, respond to changes in patient status, and provide thorough discharge teaching. You will collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and fellow nurses in a supportive, team-focused environment. Responsibilities Provide comprehensive pre- and post-anesthesia nursing care in the PACUContinuously assess and monitor patients' vital signs and recovery status Manage IV lines, medications, and pain control per provider orders Recognize and respond promptly to changes in patient condition or emergencies Educate patients and families on post-operative care and discharge instructions Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and healthcare team members Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the electronic medical record Adhere to all infection control, safety, and quality standards in the PACUParticipate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives Support a collaborative, patient-centered culture within the surgery center Required Skills Post-anesthesia patient assessment Vital signs and cardiac monitoring IV therapy and infusion management Airway management and oxygen therapy Pain management and sedation recovery Electronic medical records (EMR) documentation Pre- and post-operative patient education Infection control and aseptic technique Emergency response and code management Interdisciplinary team communication
