Role Overview:

The RN Resident is a recent graduate participating in a 12-month Nurse Residency Program designed to support a successful transition into professional nursing practice.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide individualized, high-quality, and safe patient care in collaboration with an interprofessional team. Perform the nursing process—including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation—using evidence-based practice and critical thinking. Partner with patients and families, respecting cultural diversity, and ensuring patient-centered care. Coordinate safe care delivery, document accurately, and promote respectful interdisciplinary communication. Support performance improvement activities, participate in research, and uphold organizational policies and standards. Serve as a preceptor or mentor to other nurses and students, modeling professional nursing practice. Engage in ongoing professional development, competency assessments, and evidence-based practice initiatives.

Qualifications & Skills:

Graduation from an accredited nursing program (Diploma or Bachelor's degree). Current RN license (single state or multi-state compact) and BLS certification. Less than one year of RN experience preferred. Strong interpersonal, communication, and computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office and clinical systems like Epic. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating critical thinking and time management.
