A Cardiology Registered Nurse provides care for patients with heart problems. Performs cardiac tests and assessments, educates patients and families about cardiac disease and preventative health care, and cares for patients after heart surgery. Works with specialized monitoring and treatment equipment. Trained to provide emergency medical care to cardiac patients. Works under the supervision of a physician. Works in hospital cardiology or intensive care units or cardiac rehabilitation programs.
1 Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced Cardiac Telemetry RN with prior travel nursing experience and cardiac drip management skills for a night shift assignment. Details Cardiac Telemetry unit with overflow IMCU responsibilities 32-bed unit with 1:5-6 patient ratios Adult to geriatric patient population Manages arrhythmias, cardioversion, CHF, chest pain, renal and pulmonary conditions (COPD, pulmonary edema, PE, DVT) Cares for stable A-Fib, SVT, and bradycardia patients Handles surgical overflow patients (cholecystectomy, appendectomy, chest tubes, biliary drains) and occasional vascular, ortho, or CVA overflow patients Manages post cardiac cath patients and TR bands Manages DKA patients requiring insulin drip titration Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM-7:00 AM) Every other weekend typically required, with travelers filling gaps after core staff scheduling Floating required within facility and scope of practice as needed Rare call requirements with a 2-hour response time Uses Epic (preferred), Pyxis, and SBAR communication Requirements Active GA or Compact RN license required at time of submission Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS preferred Minimum 2 years of recent experience in cardiac telemetry required Prior travel nursing experience required Experience managing continuous IV cardiac medications required, including Amiodarone, Cardizem, Dobutamine, Dopamine, Milrinone, and Nitroglycerin Experience with diuretics (Bumex, Lasix) and anticoagulants (Aggrastat, Argatroban, Heparin) required Insulin drip management experience required Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and starting/maintaining IVs Central line and peripheral line care/management experience required Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias required Experience with Rapid Response/Code teams required Heparin protocol experience required Preferred skills include PICC line management, blood product administration, port access/management, BiPAP/CPAP management, high flow nasal cannula, and feeding tube care Preferred charge nurse experience Epic charting system experience preferred Additional Information Provide comprehensive cardiac telemetry nursing care including drip management and arrhythmia monitoring Manage overflow patients from IMCU, surgical, vascular, ortho, and CVA units as needed Navy blue scrubs required Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract, with all RTO requests finalized at time of submission No RTO can be requested during orientation week Holiday coverage required for major holidays (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year's Eve/Day) based on how many fall within the assignment period Local candidates accepted at the same rate Previous Piedmont employees (perm, per diem, or FCSS) must be away from all Piedmont facilities for one full year before applying as a traveler Travelers previously cancelled or issued a DNR by the facility must complete one assignment elsewhere before reapplying First-time travelers are not accepted for this role
