Job Description

What You'll Do As an Operating Room Registered Nurse, you will deliver safe, high'quality, and compassionate care to patients undergoing surgical or invasive procedures. You will support patients and their families throughout the surgical journey-from initial indication for surgery through recovery and return to daily activities. In this role, you will: Provide patient care using the nursing process, applying clinical judgment and critical thinking to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care. Address the psychological, social, cultural, and educational needs of surgical patients and their support persons. Identify expected versus unexpected patient responses and respond appropriately to changes in condition or emergencies. Advocate for patient safety and maintain required clinical competencies for assigned surgical areas. Document care accurately, concisely, and timely in the electronic health record. Demonstrate fiscal responsibility by managing time, resources, and surgical supplies effectively. Collaborate as an active member of a supportive, multidisciplinary surgical team. Maintain knowledge of and adhere to AORN Recommended Practices , departmental policies, and surgical procedures. Perform all other duties as assigned to support safe, efficient surgical services. The ideal candidate demonstrates professionalism, adaptability, and strong teamwork skills. Required Education Graduate of an accredited school of nursing Preferred Education Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Preferred Experience One year of surgical or perioperative nursing experience Required Skills & Experience Ability to respond appropriately to changes, problems, and emergency situations Strong verbal and written communication skills Proficiency in interpersonal relationships and teamwork Basic computer skills Excellent customer service skills Demonstrated accountability and flexibility when interacting with patients and colleagues Required Licenses & Certifications Valid Iowa RN license or license from a reciprocating state BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP certifications About Cass Health Cass Health is a thriving, independent rural health system in southwest Iowa.
