CRHC is looking for a full-time Registered Nurse to work 40 hours a week as a Surgical Navigator. The schedule includes M-F, 7:30 am - 4:00 pm.
PRIMARY FUNCTION
Responsible for Advancing Exceptional Care by prioritizing Safety and Quality in every aspect of patient care. Education and/or Experience Graduate from an approved school/college of nursing Minimum one (1) year experience in rural health preferred. Minimum one (1) surgical services, patient coordination, or health-related roles. The facility operates 24/7; however, work schedules may vary based on departmental needs to ensure the highest standard of patient care and operational efficiency. Flexibility will be expected. Weekend and Holiday rotation as needed. Eligible for shift differentials where applicable. Position is classified as non-exempt and eligible for overtime in accordance with labor laws. Surgical Scheduling Schedule surgeries and ensure all documentation is complete, including signed consents per hospital policy, insurance approvals, and surgical orders. Coordinate with surgical team members to align procedures with the hospital's operational capacity. Prioritize cases based on medical urgency and department guidelines. Patient Coordination Act as a liaison between patients, surgeons, primary care providers, and the surgical team to facilitate pre-operative and post-operative preparations. Communicate with patients to provide clear pre-operative and post-operative instructions, procedure details, and address concerns. Verify insurance coverage and obtain necessary pre-authorizations for surgeries. Schedule all related appointments, including with external providers such as primary care physicians, dentists, or specialists. Conduct patient interviews to document medical history, collect required paperwork, and prepare surgical charts. Quality and Safety Improvement Participate in quality assurance initiatives to enhance surgical outcomes and streamline operations. Assist with gathering and reporting data on surgical volume, case times, and patient outcomes. Identify opportunities for improvement and implement process changes in collaboration with leadership. Maintain compliance with all hospital policies and regulatory standards. Communication and Collaboration Serve as the primary contact for surgical inquiries from patients, families, and the healthcare team. Attend interdisciplinary meetings and actively contribute to patient care planning. Promote teamwork and a positive work environment within the department. Ensure timely and effective communication to provide comprehensive patient care. Professional Development and Teamwork Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor, serving as a role model for the department. Engage in continuing education and training to stay current with surgical practices and healthcare trends. Foster a collaborative and supportive workplace culture. Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to new healthcare technologies and procedural updates. Quality Program Participation Actively participates in CRHC's Quality Program, committees, performance improvement initiatives, and operational support activities. Demonstrates a commitment to Quality Improvement (QI) practices. Regularly attends Department huddles. Completes tasks as outlined on the Department Huddle Board. Other Responsibilities Performs additional duties as assigned to support the strategic initiatives of CRHC.
