Job Description

At Mahaska Health, we are seeking a dedicated and compassionate ER - Registered Nurse to join our dynamic healthcare team in a fast-paced environment. As an integral part of the emergency room staff, you will provide high-quality patient care while delivering essential support to patients and their families during critical moments. Your responsibilities will encompass assessing patient conditions, administering medications, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement comprehensive care plans. You will play a key role in triaging patients based on the severity of their conditions, ensuring that those in need of urgent care receive appropriate attention in a timely manner. In addition to clinical skills, effective communication and strong emotional resilience are paramount to providing care in high-pressure situations. Hours:
Part-time:
Monday & Thursday 7pm - 7am Essential Job Functions include but are not limited to: Conduct thorough patient assessments and triage incoming patients based on urgency. Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians. Monitor patient vitals and report any significant changes to the medical team. Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and other healthcare professionals to create and implement individualized care plans. Educate patients and their families about health management and post-discharge care. Respond swiftly to emergency situations and provide immediate care. Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in accordance with hospital policies. Must be able to perform the physical demands of the job. Maintains regular and reliable attendance. Utilize documentation methods as approved by Mahaska Health. Requirements include but are not limited to: A graduate from an accredited school of nursing and currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of Iowa (or) a graduate from an accredited school of nursing and currently licensed as a Registered Nurse able to work in the state of Iowa. Required to be current in BLS (Basic Life Support) by the standards of the American Heart Association. Required to show proof of having completed Mandatory Reporter course at the time of hire or attend within 6 months of the start date. Must adhere to all training requirements as mandated by Federal, State, and Professional licensure and regulatory standards. Required to be certified in ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) and PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) within one year of hire. Required to be certified in TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core) within 1 year of hire. Required to complete 16 hours of continuing trauma medical education every 4 years. 4 hours of the continuing education will be formal, and 12 hours may be informal. Completion of Crisis Prevention Intervention training (CPI) or equivalent.
