Duties Conduct thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and medical history reviews using advanced EMR/EHR systems such as Epic and Cerner. Administer medications and injections accurately, including IV infusions and medication management for acute pain control and chronic conditions. Perform specialized procedures such as suturing, catheterization, tube feeding management, and sterile dressing changes following aseptic techniques. Monitor patients' physiological status through telemetry and ventilator management in critical care or ICU settings; respond promptly to emergent situations utilizing critical care response procedures. Collaborate with physicians and specialists in areas like cardiology (including cardiac catheterization), ophthalmology (including laser treatments), infectious disease care, hospice & palliative medicine, and trauma medicine to develop comprehensive care plans. Document all patient interactions meticulously in medical records while adhering to HIPAA regulations; utilize EMR/EHR systems like Athenahealth or eClinicalWorks for accurate data entry. Provide education on health coaching, discharge planning, medication administration, and disease management tailored to individual needs across geriatrics, pediatrics, behavioral health, or home & community care settings. Qualifications Valid RN license with current registration; additional certifications such as Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) are required. Demonstrated experience working with diverse patient populations including long-term care residents, individuals with developmental disabilities, memory care patients, or those requiring hospice & palliative services. Proficiency in using EMR/EHR systems like Epic or Cerner; familiarity with
ICD-9/10
coding for accurate documentation and billing purposes. Hands-on experience performing venipuncture (phlebotomy), IV insertions, specimen collection/processing, and laboratory testing procedures. Strong knowledge of anatomy and physiology; ability to perform physical examinations and diagnostic evaluations efficiently. Critical care experience preferred—especially ICU or Level I & II trauma center backgrounds—along with experience in emergency medicine or urgent care environments. Excellent communication skills with the ability to triage effectively in fast-paced settings such as emergency rooms or outpatient clinics. Knowledge of infection control protocols, sterile processing techniques, and hospital standards including NCQA standards for quality assurance.
