Job Description

Nursing degree, active registered nurse (RN) license and minimum 1+ years RN experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. Step into a dynamic full-time opportunity as a district nurse supporting school communities near Calumet City, IL. This contract position places you at the heart of student well-being, working alongside dedicated RNs staffed at each school site. Your expertise as a School RN or Certified School Nurse (CSN) will be highly valued as you collaborate across eight different school sites, providing essential leadership in student health services. Bring your knowledge of educational health needs to facilitate IEP and 504 plan meetings, ensuring every student receives tailored support and accommodations. Your flexibility and readiness to travel between school buildings will allow you to offer guidance where it's needed most, making an impact on students, families, and fellow staff across the district. What you'll bring: Valid RN license in Illinois and current CSN certification Experience in school nursing, including Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and 504 accommodations Knowledge of best practices in student health, chronic disease management, and emergency response Excellent communication and organization skills for effective collaboration with students, families, and staff Confidence to support all eight school sites based on evolving needs Key responsibilities: Serve as a leader and clinical resource for school-based RNs Coordinate and participate in IEP and 504 plan meetings, advocating for student health services Deliver health education and training to students and staff Develop and monitor individualized care plans for students with health needs Travel between eight school sites as required This role offers a competitive pay rate of $45-55 per hour depending on experience, recognizing your expertise and the vital role you play.
