Job Summary We are looking for a highly capable telemetry nurse to analyze medical equipment measurements. In this role, your duties will include studying patient history, administering specialized treatment to critically ill patients, and keeping medical records. You will also be required to update family members on the medical condition of the patients. To ensure success, telemetry nurses should demonstrate extensive experience in caring for critically ill patients and the ability to work in a highly demanding environment. Accomplished candidates expertly interpret medical technology data and provide their patients with dedicated care.

Telemetry Nurse Responsibilities:

Studying patients' medical history, test results, and treatment plans. Tracking routine heart rate, blood pressure, and pulse oximetry measurements. Monitoring, interpreting, and recording data from specialized medical technologies and equipment. Administering medication and performing treatment interventions in consultation with healthcare specialists. Maintaining and updating ward charts, patient files, and medical records. Instructing Telemetry Unit staff on patient care and treatment plans. Collaborating with healthcare specialists and reporting changes and deteriorating conditions. Explaining tests results and procedures to patients and their families, as well as answering questions. Advising patients on post-hospital care, including prescribed medicine, home care protocols, disease prevention, and lifestyle changes.

Telemetry Nurse Requirements:

Bachelor's science in nursing degree (BSN). Registered Nurse (RN). Progressive Care Certified Nurse (PCCN). 3-5 years of experience as a telemetry nurse in a similar field of specialization. Extensive knowledge in interpreting data from specialized electronics and medical equipment. Proficiency in recordkeeping and patient management systems, such as PatientTrak and ModDoc HMS. Advanced proficiency in administering medication and performing treatment interventions. Ability to consult with healthcare specialists and instruct telemetry unit staff. In-depth knowledge of best practices in healthcare and medical recordkeeping. Exceptional interpersonal skills to advise and support patients and their families. Duties Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and detailed health histories. Administer medications and treatments accurately, including injections, IV infusions, wound suturing, and catheter care. Monitor residents' health status using EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth to ensure precise documentation of care provided. Collaborate with physicians and specialists for diagnostic evaluations like laboratory testing, imaging (e.g., sonography), and specialized procedures such as botulinum toxin treatment or ostomy care. Manage acute pain and chronic conditions through tailored pain management strategies while ensuring adherence to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy. Provide education and coaching to residents and their families on health maintenance, medication management, nutrition, and disease prevention. Support residents with complex needs including dementia care, memory care programs, behavioral health issues, hospice & palliative medicine considerations, and trauma medicine protocols. Participate in discharge planning, case management activities, and coordinate with home & community care services for seamless transitions of care. Skills Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, or eClinicalWorks for accurate medical documentation. Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy & physiology to perform thorough patient assessments. Experience working with individuals with disabilities or developmental disabilities; familiarity with geriatrics and senior care practices. Skilled in performing sterile techniques such as phlebotomy, specimen collection/processing, suturing, and aseptic procedures. Ability to manage complex cases involving ICU experience or level I & II trauma center protocols; familiarity with trauma medicine is a plus. Competence in critical care procedures including ventilator management, tube feeding administration, telemetry monitoring, and airway management. Knowledge of ICD coding (ICD-9 & ICD-10), CPT coding for procedures, laboratory testing procedures, and infection control standards. Excellent patient care skills with the ability to perform physical examinations and vital sign assessments confidently. Experience working within hospital medicine settings or outpatient clinics; familiarity with urgent & emergency care environments is advantageous. Capable of providing compassionate support for patients requiring hospice & palliative care or dealing with acute pain management needs.
